Perfect Day, Perfect Venue, Perfect Food!

Posted in General, News on September 9th, 2008 | No Comments

Hollybank House in Emsworth is a listed Country House mainly used as a bed & breakfast surrounded in 10 acres of perfectly kept gardens. This perfect location played host to an all in all beautiful wedding, even the weather decided to be kind to us.

Giant Apple our Event Management partners asked us to cater for a wedding in Emsworth – the brief was to create something slightly different with a very informal and relaxed atmosphere for 160 guests.

The guests were greeted with a glass of our very popular summer drink of Pimms and lemonade or a Raspberry fizz for those who wanted to take it easy!

Shortly after arrival drinks our contemporary Canapés were served on the lawns…which included…Leek & Potato Soup, Crispy leeks and Chives - Sausage & Tomato Mash - Poppy Seed & Goats Cheese, Red Onion Marmalade - Posh King Prawn Cocktail. These were polished off rather quickly which is always a compliment.

Guest proceeded to the wonderfully decorated marquee where we served two slowly cooked seasoned Hog Roasts, Floured Baps, Home made Bramley Apple Sauce and a selection of fresh Salads, Pickles & Breads. We also cooked Seafood Paella and Chunky Vegetable Ratatouille, Basil & Goats Cheese in large paella stands which the guests absolutely loved and kept coming back for more. The bride wanted something very different so Dan, our Creative Chef came up with the idea of paella stands which was completely bespoke and encouraged interaction between the guests.

The night was filled with singing, drinking and dancing whilst the children played giant Jenga and connect four in the gardens outside the marquee. It was obvious that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

At the end of the evening an amazing fire dance was displayed by the Bride’s sister to see the newly weds off on their honeymoon.

All in all a good day was had by everyone!

Anyone for High Tea in Bath?

Posted in General, News on August 27th, 2008 | 1 Comment

Red Anywhere recently catered at a beautiful country retreat near Bath. The setting was idyllic with beautiful weather to match!

We were asked by Pretty Clever our event management partners to create a High Tea for 30 guests and to keep the theme very English…. not a problem for us at Red!

I included some open sandwiches off Smoked Salmon, Pickled Cucumber, Roquette and Celery Leaves from the stunning Organic vegetable garden at the property. we also served Roast Chicken with Lemon, Thyme and Honey with Pink Grapefruit, Cornish Crab with Parsley & Lemon was a particular favourite with the guests.

Now Cakes have to be part of any afternoon tea and this was no different. I made fresh fruit scones with Cornish Clotted Cream, Home made Strawberry Jam, Lemon Drizzle Cake and our very famous double Chocolate Brownie!

This was all washed down with Champagne, Pimm’s and a pot of fresh English Tea.

So anyone looking for a Traditional High Tea with a twist then please let us know!

Red Golf Day Raises £6,000 for 2 Local Charities

Posted in General, News on August 7th, 2008 | 1 Comment

This year our charity golf day has raised over £6,000 for 2 worthwhile local charities. This year we supported Sussex Autistic Society and Worthing Churches Homeless Projects who we have supported for the last 3 years.

The day was perfect an absolute success from my part and all the comments and thanks we have been getting assures me I am not alone with my thoughts!

The day started off with young Jordan Butterfield who suffers from autism teeing off the golf day watched closely by him mum Lindsey and golf coach Gerry from Sussex Golf Academy. Jordan drilled a drive straight down the middle of the fairway and set the standard for the rest of the golfers!

Each team (14) played 18 holes on what was a glorious day, the golf course was fantastic and all the staff at Slinfold Park where wonderful, a special thank you to Alistair, Brad and group director Dominic for helping and supporting our day at Slinfold

When all the golf had finished we got on our open top bus and made the short journey to Eastland’s Estate where we are preferred caterers, the bus journey was amazing, early evening no rain and a nice moment to remember the golf we had played that day!

We were welcomed by my staff at Red Anywhere with our bespoke Red Cosmo Cocktail which went down to well!

I then turned from golf day organiser to Chef and quickly popped on my jacket and check that my Sous Chef Will had everything under control and of course he did….. A real star in the making!

Dinner was served around 8pm with Thai Style Fish Cake to start followed by Rump of Lamb, Fondant Potato and Local Asparagus then to finish it all off we served a Vanilla & Lemon Cheesecake with Lemon Curd and Raspberry Sorbet!

A charity auction followed hosted by Ian Hart who was fantastic and helped get the room going with his humour! We had 8 auction lots and raised over 4.5k. The rest of the money raised was from the daytime challenges and Pimm’s tent at Slinfold.

We all then staggered to our open top bus again and made the journey down the A24 towards Worthing…… what happened next is another story and if you read our blog you will see!!

A huge thank you goes to Sue Stevens and Lindsey Butterfield from both charities who have been a rock throughout organising the event and have supported and helped more than I can ask for and it’s a pleasure raising money for their charities!

Also not forgetting Ian Macara of Bennett Griffin, Geoff Raynsford of 5 Rings Telecom and Claire Love of Local Web Solutions for their support, time and effort in making this the best golf day ever!

Here’s looking forward to next year….. Watch this space!

Thank You

Dan Clarke
